Lindsey Gantt first started modifying cars with her father, a long-haul truck driver, who she didn’t get to see much. "Whenever my father came home I would spend hours in the garage wrenching on old cars with him." At age 17, Gantt changed the brakes on her limited edition Scion xB, and knew from that moment modifying and wrenching on cars would always be her getaway from the world.
As Gantt grew older, her tastes in cars changed and she purchased a 2015 Scion FR-S, lovingly christened 'Charlene'. At first, Gantt plasti-dipped the wheels and really started digging into it. And so, the bigger modifications started with set of XXR 530 wheels with a custom candy-teal color (she has on the car now). Gantt installed Eibach Sportline springs to lower it and make the fitment better. David Taylor of Highline Auto Innovations blacked the roof and mirror caps, and added a stripe under the windows. She went with this look for months until August of that year she had a strut failure that sent her vehicle into oncoming traffic and nearly cost her life. "After that horrific car accident," mentions Gantt, "Charlene was fixed up and ready for another phase." Gantt changed the theme of the FR-S to bronze and white and it captured many automotive enthusiast eyes with her subtle tuner-style look. Then came a FIVE:AD front lip, Vorrstoen ES2 wheels, D2 Racing coilovers, and a spoiler.
Gantt and one of her closest friends, Josh, both certified caraholics, swapped ideas and visions as they both began their prospective builds. And on September 11, 2015, Gantt had her last conversation with him to discuss Charlene's future modifications. Josh tragically lost his life in a horrific motorcycle accident shortly after the brainstorming session. Heartbroken but determined, Gantt decided to not only build her dream car on her own, but also to dedicate the build to his memory and to serve as a lasting tribute to his love of the enthusiast culture.
With tastefully selected parts from Rallybacker, Seibon, House of Color, Falgenwerks, Vercelli and Grip Royal, and with the help of her mother with the interior's fabric, no details was spared on the current look and functionality of Gantt's build. "I will be doing more to the car in the year to come," mentions Gantt. "I have worked countless hours on the FR-S, and shed blood, sweat and tears with little to no help from others, only because I want to do it all for my best friend! Rest in peace, Josh."
Gantt is not the typical automotive female car enthusiast; she's a purest and visionary at heart, and always think outside of the box, wrenching and giving back to the automotive industry.
