Jeremy Dotson purchased the 1997 Honda Prelude in November of 2016. He's been a Prelude enthusiast for decades, and has always wanted a right-hand drive. "I just love the sleek and sporty body lines," mentions Dotson. He found the Prelude for sale a few states away and convinced his wife that he needed a "daily driver".
2 Months after Dotson bought the car it quickly lost its use as a daily driver, as he had much larger plans for this unique vehicle. "I went to see my longtime friend, and now sponsor, Ka-Han Paul at Mad Creations to fix some bodywork. I ended up with a full color-shift paint job, as well as shaved handles and more goodies from Japan that were only found on the Prelude Type S." After paint, Dotson changed the wheels to 3-piece Work VS-XX and installed an air suspension kit. His first show with the Prelude is where he met the NvUSGA Chapter and instantly clicked. "I found my new family."
Over the past year Dotson has gained sponsorship from Stage Motorsports, Mishimoto, and Dressupbolts.com. "This past off-season we removed and replaced the engine and transmission, dropping in a Euro R h22 with LSD transmission, Hytech header, all Mishimoto cooling products, a Mugen twin loop exhaust, and ACT clutch/flywheel," explains Dotson. The suspension was tweaked with ESP t-mount and traction bars, and a Wilwood big brake kit was also added. While the motor was out, the engine bay was shaved and painted, and the harnesses were tucked. "I have seen a lot of super clean bays with everything eliminated but I wanted to see how clean we could make a bay without eliminating any comfort features," expresses Dotson. Upon reassembly, every bolt was changed and replaced with either Downstar, Speed Factory, or Dressupbolts.com true burnt titanium.
Dotson's inspiration comes from his friends, family, team, and the Prelude community.
"It has been my dream for over 20 years to have one of my builds featured in a magazine.Thank you for this opportunity!"
