Jeff had a 1995 Viper that he unfortunately lost in an accident. He was looking for something much cheaper to insure and could be bought with his insurance payment and he liked the styling and looks of the Avenger. Within the first week of buying it, he dropped, tinted and added an alarm system, new rims and a stereo. He has been been modding it ever since.
Soon after the carbon fiber bug hit, there was almost no aftermarket support for the car. So most of my parts were hand made by himself. He started making his own carbon fiber parts for the interior and underhood.
For larger parts he approached different manufactures to try to get them produced or started group buys to get them produced. Luckily there were several manufacturers that made Eclipse parts that could be adapted as well.
He turned his attention to the suspension next. He tried just about every available suspension set up available for the platform. There have been 17 different strut/spring coilover combos underneath her. Then he upgraded the brakes to Eclipse GSX twin-piston calipers and cross-drilled Brembo brakes. He also adapted Eclipse front upper and rear lower strut bars.
Again with little or no aftermarket support for the motor, most mods were home-brewed and tried by himself and others. Currently he's running a full standalone fuel management system with Ford Mustang GT aftermarket injectors. An MSD ignition system and a Venom VCN2000 nitrous system helped increase the horsepower. He lost a cylinder running too much bottle, so a 3.0 L motor was swapped in place of the 2.5.
For entertainment, Jeff currently runs an Alpine head unit, XM radio, iPod adapter, DVD player, PS2 system (he tried a PS3 but it doesn’t like being bounced around), a 17-inch monitor in the trunk and 7-inches in the trunk and the glovebox. He's also running two 1,000 watt amps on an Orion HCCA subwoofer in a custom-built enclosure, Eclipse Point Source 6X9’s and Focal Utopia series component speakers, powered by a 4X125 amp.
The car was set up for competing in a specific competition the Triple Crown Tuner challenge. It was a judged car show, stereo competition, and an on-track competition at a sports car course. He's won 'King of the Streets' three of the five years he's competed.
