STORY
My name is Danny Rasoilo and here is my story. Even though my car is a Subaru STI, the only reason that my build started was because of a Mazdaspeed 3. My friend Pedro (who you will be hearing a lot about in this story) and I were cruising home one night in my speed3. Well, KABOOOOOMMMMM. That was the end of that motor and car as a whole. I went on to by a 2009 satin white pearl STI in September 2009. The car was beautiful, and I remember all it needed was coilovers, rally armor mud flaps, and a SPT exhaust. Well let’s just say, from the color to those three mods, none of them are apart of my car now.
The hatches were still fairly new at this point. I had a Varis wing, some Advan RS-D wheels and some coils. Car looked great, everyone loved it. Then I noticed every hatch was starting to look the same, including mine. It was time for a change. I wanted to be different. So, Pedro, who is the owner of Vilar Auto Body and also my best man since age 5, started brainstorming.
Parts were ordered, parts came in, more parts were ordered, parts came in, parts were shipped out, and parts came back. It was time to get to work; Pedro and I took one month out of our lives and completely focused on my STI. After that month, my white pearl STI was now a custom red that is not carried by Subaru. Narrow body no more, instead I had a Varis wide body kit that was just released. 18 x 10 Advans were just not doing it. Forgeline GA3s in 19 x 12 with a 5-inch lip were the new shoes. Coils were gone and Vilar management air ride setup installed. Rotated GT35R Turbo kit from Perrin installed. Interior received the first Takata Drift Pro seats sold in the US, along with custom Alcantara wrapped interior (dashboard, shift boots, pillars). With the rest of the necessary minor details, I officially had a new car in one month.
I might have bought the parts, but it felt so good that my friend and I had built this car. Now I see it featured, and all over Instagram, car fliers, and magazines. It’s been surreal, but this is my story.
