When Jonathan Gauthier picked up the 2013 Subaru BRZ, it was the first time he’d ever owned a sports car. Soon after, he tracked down and joined a local FR-S/BRZ club and almost immediately fell into the mod scene.

“What I realized was that most heavily modified twins (FR-S/BRZ) were heading in more or less the same direction,” Gauthier writes. “Wanting mine to stand apart, and having grown up in the 1980's, I set out to modify my BRZ as a homage to cars of that era.”

Fans of old school cars will undoubtedly notice his Subaru has a lot in common with Toyota, which is no coincidence, as they are the co-developers the BRZ brand.

“The wheels are inspired by Tosco from the 1970's, TRD louvers (Toyota Celica from the 1970's) and the cluster overlay which is reminiscent of a jet fighter's cockpit. For the wrap, I decided to go with a modern metallic interpretation of British Racing Green to give the famous color a little more punch; the car was initially World Rally Blue.
