The Mitsubishi Eclipse has always been on the top of David Abbott's want-to-build list ever since the first Fast and Furious movie. "I didn't want the typical eclipse," he states, "I wanted the Spyder." Abbott purchased the 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder in 2018. "It was stock," he remembers, "I was gonna try to keep it stock but as we know, with any true car guy, that never happens."
The first modification to the Eclipse was so first it started with the 18" Work VS-KF wheels, followed by a paint job. "I kept it white but add a purple pearl to it," Abbott states. An Air Tech air suspension kit was purchased and installed by Abbott, then soon after the Eclipse's audio and in-car entertainment was the next focus. I wanted to go big and something to make people say 'wow'," he mentions. He eliminated the convertible top all together and built the whole system in the back seat. "The convertible top area now has two 15" American Bass subwoofers and three Hifonics ampliferis to power everything." A few 5-7" screens were also added to complete the multimedia system.
In the engine bay, Abbott relocated of the over-flow bottle and fuse box, installed a cold air intake, and painted the whole bay purple with a rainbow pearl clear coat.
"These cars are super hard to find and I think mine has come out as one of the cleanest 2nd generation Eclipses around," mentions Abbott.
