At the age of 19, Chris Brinkley was introduced to the modified car culture. It was in fact his friend’s red 1996 Nissan 240SX SE, with its RB25DET motor swap and R34 GTR wheels, which really sealed the deal.
“Just the perfect level of modification without changing too much of the stock style," explains Brinkley. “From that point, I was hooked on the 240SX.”
In 2012, the same friend was selling the ’96 240SX on Facebook. After a little negotiation, Brinkley drove away with the car and immediately started planning his build. Since then, he’s installed a new suspension system, motor, wheels, brakes and a fresh paint job. Brinkley says the build will soon be completed with a custom stereo system provided by Q Logic and Hooker Audio. He’s also planning a complete rebuild of the motor for more power, chassis bracing for the track, and some tweaking on the spring rates “to make the car ride better.”
“This car is not your typical ratty 240SX that is made to be torn up on the track,” Brinkley concludes. “This is a fun street car that can do really anything you want. My dream build!”
