Some might say the 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo was destined to be Adam Hicks’ platform.
“I’ve always had a ‘thing’ for old JDM sports cars, especially ones with pop-up headlights,” Hicks writes. “The NSX was out of my budget and it is too damn hard to get an FD3S in Ottawa. I've always had a bit of a crush on the SW20, with its mid-rear configuration and low-slung stance, and thought it was the perfect canvas for a project car!”
Hicks has since turned the MR2 into his own by making personal tweaks to the engine, exhaust, suspension and interior. “Good looks, great motor, amazing handling characteristics,” Hicks concludes. “Just an all around wonderful machine.”
Some plans for the future include a CT27 turbo upgrade, Mandrel-bent hot/cold intercooler piping, HKS cams and a Haltech ECU.
