In middle school, Roy Moncada used to draw cars all the time. Different schemes with paint jobs, kits and wheels, Moncada let his imagination run. "I have a passion with the design aesthetic, and the impact something makes when you first see it and the impression it leaves behind, mentions Moncada. "When I see a build, I want it to show me who you really are without you having to explain it to me."
Like many, Moncada started out with his love for the Honda platform. "I have always felt the need to set myself apart, Moncada states. In 2004, he was introduced to a contact in Houston who was importing RHD cars, and imported an authentic Honda Civic EK4 SiR. Moncada addd an Integra DC5R front clip, and dropped a K20R engine and boosted it. He sold the Civic and started his second RHD build, a DC2 Integra Type R. "The motor was being built in a Houston shop and the owner sold it for his personal legal issues with no paper trail between us. I lost it all, " mentions Moncada. After that, he decided it was time to take a break.
When Moncada decided to start a new build after his Honda incident, he was looking into a couple vehicles. "My co-worker was selling his Lexus IS300, and after looking into it and the aftermarket support, I knew it was the right decision!" At the time, Moncada had 7 years experience working on all cars, and the Lexus/Toyota platform had always caught his eye. "With the VIP scene growing, I knew I wanted to build a car that was influenced by that look."
